POLICIES

MF Woodcraft Policies

At MF Woodcraft, every piece is thoughtfully designed and built by hand, one project at a time. Many of our products are made to order or customized specifically for each customer.

Because our work is handcrafted and often made specifically for you, please take a moment to review the policies below before placing an order.

Handmade & Made-to-Order

Every MF Woodcraft piece is individually crafted in our woodworking shop rather than mass-produced.

Natural wood has its own character. Variations in grain, color, figure, knots, mineral streaks, and other natural features are normal and are part of what makes each piece unique.

Because of this, the finished product may have slight variations from photographs, samples, or previously completed pieces. These natural variations are not considered defects.

Minor differences in dimensions, grain direction, color, and appearance may also occur as a normal part of the handcrafted woodworking process.

Custom & Personalized Orders

Custom woodworking is one of the things we enjoy most. We are happy to work with customers on dimensions, wood species, finishes, hardware, colors, and other design details when a project allows.

Before production begins, we will confirm the important specifications of a custom project with you.

Please carefully review and approve all dimensions, materials, finishes, colors, hardware, and other specifications before production begins.

Once materials have been purchased or construction has started, changes may not be possible. Changes that require additional materials, labor, or rework may result in additional charges.

Because customized and personalized pieces are made specifically for you, custom and personalized orders are final sale and are not eligible for return or exchange due to a change of mind, preference, or expectation.

If you are unsure about any aspect of a custom project, please contact us before placing your order. We are happy to discuss the project and answer questions.

Returns & Exchanges

MF Woodcraft does not accept returns or exchanges on made-to-order, custom, or personalized pieces.

These pieces are made specifically for the individual customer and generally cannot be resold as standard inventory.

Please make sure you are comfortable with the dimensions, design, materials, finish, and other specifications before placing your order.

This policy does not limit any rights or remedies that may apply under applicable law. If an item arrives damaged, is materially different from what was agreed upon, or there is another legitimate problem with your order, please contact us and we will work with you to find an appropriate resolution.

Materials & Craftsmanship

We take pride in selecting quality materials and using appropriate woodworking techniques for each project.

Depending on the application, we use carefully selected hardwoods, plywood, hardware, finishes, and adhesives from reputable manufacturers.

Our goal is to build pieces that are functional, durable, and made to provide years of service.

Wood is a natural material, and we believe its natural characteristics are part of its beauty rather than something to be hidden. Knots, variations in grain, mineral streaks, color differences, and other natural features may be present in the finished piece.

Food-Contact Products

For products intended for food preparation or food contact, we select materials, adhesives, and finishes appropriate for their intended use.

For example, Titebond III Ultimate Wood Glue is formulated for applications where indirect food contact is expected and is FDA-compliant for indirect food contact.

Food-contact products are constructed with the intended use of the product in mind. Proper cleaning, drying, and maintenance by the customer are important to maintaining the product over time.

Wood Movement

Solid wood is a natural material that responds to changes in temperature and humidity.

Seasonal expansion and contraction can cause small changes in dimensions, movement at joints, minor changes in flatness, or other natural movement in a wood product.

These characteristics are inherent to solid wood and, when within normal expectations for the material, are not considered manufacturing defects.

To help protect your furniture and other wooden products, avoid prolonged exposure to excessive moisture, extreme temperatures, direct heat, and unusually dry or humid conditions.

Finishes & Color

Hand-applied finishes and painted surfaces may contain subtle variations in color, sheen, texture, and appearance.

Different pieces of wood can also absorb stains, oils, and other finishes differently. This is particularly true with natural hardwoods.

Colors displayed on a computer, phone, or tablet may also differ from the actual color of the finished product because of differences in screens and display settings.

If an exact color or finish match is important to your project, please contact us before placing your order.

Order Changes & Cancellations

Because many of our products are made specifically for each customer, orders may only be canceled or modified before materials have been purchased or production has begun.

Once work has started, cancellation or modification may not be possible.

If you need to make a change to your order, please contact us as soon as possible.

Custom changes requested after production has begun may result in additional material and labor charges.

Production & Lead Times

Many MF Woodcraft pieces are built to order.

Estimated production times are provided as a guide and may vary depending on the complexity of the project, material availability, current workload, and other factors.

We will make reasonable efforts to complete your order within the estimated timeframe and will communicate with you if a significant delay occurs.

Custom projects may require additional time depending on their design and scope.

Shipping & Delivery

We take care to package our products appropriately for shipment.

Larger furniture pieces and other substantial woodworking projects may require specialized packaging or shipping arrangements.

Once an order has been shipped, delivery times are controlled by the shipping carrier and are outside of our direct control.

If your order arrives damaged, please contact us as soon as possible and provide photographs of:

  • The shipping box or packaging

  • Any visible damage to the packaging

  • The damaged product

  • The shipping label

Please retain the original packaging until the situation has been resolved, as it may be required for a shipping claim.

We will work with you to determine the appropriate resolution for legitimate shipping damage.

Product Care

Proper care is important for maintaining the appearance and longevity of handcrafted wood products.

Specific care instructions may vary depending on the wood species, finish, and intended use of the product. When applicable, care instructions will be provided with the item or included in the product description.

Following the recommended care instructions helps protect the finish and minimize the effects of normal wood movement.

Inspection Upon Delivery

Please inspect your order when it arrives.

If you believe your item has been damaged during shipping, contains a manufacturing defect, or is materially different from the agreed-upon specifications, please contact us promptly with photographs and a description of the issue.

We ask that you contact us before attempting repairs, refinishing, modification, or alteration of the item.

Customer-Provided Dimensions & Information

For custom projects, customers are responsible for providing accurate dimensions and specifications when those measurements are supplied by the customer.

MF Woodcraft is not responsible for problems resulting from inaccurate dimensions, measurements, drawings, or other information supplied by the customer.

When appropriate, we may recommend verifying measurements before construction begins.

Communication & Project Approval

For custom projects, important specifications and approvals should be confirmed in writing before production begins.

This may include:

  • Dimensions

  • Wood species

  • Finish or paint color

  • Hardware

  • Design details

  • Quantity

  • Delivery or shipping arrangements

  • Other project-specific requirements

Once these details have been approved and production begins, changes may result in additional costs or may no longer be possible.

Questions Before Ordering

If you have questions about a product, material, dimensions, finish, construction method, care, or customization, please contact us before placing your order.

We would much rather answer a question before a project begins than have an issue after it is completed.

Warranty & Craftsmanship Guarantee

Craftsmanship & Defects

We stand behind the quality of our workmanship.

If you believe there is a genuine manufacturing or workmanship issue with your piece, please contact us so that we can review the situation.

Normal characteristics of wood, normal wood movement, changes caused by improper care, accidental damage, misuse, modifications made by the customer, or normal wear and tear are not considered workmanship defects.

Each situation will be evaluated based on the specific product, materials, intended use, and circumstances.

Our Commitment to Quality

At MF Woodcraft, we take pride in the quality of our workmanship. Every piece is built individually with careful attention to construction, materials, joinery, finishing, and overall functionality.

We stand behind the craftsmanship of our work.

If a piece has a genuine defect in workmanship or construction under normal intended use, please contact us. We will review the issue and, when appropriate, work with you to repair the item or determine another reasonable solution.

What Our Guarantee Covers

Our craftsmanship guarantee applies to defects resulting from the way the piece was constructed or finished, including issues such as:

  • Defective or failed joinery under normal intended use

  • Significant construction defects

  • Hardware that fails due to improper installation by MF Woodcraft

  • Finish defects resulting from the application of the finish

  • Other workmanship issues that are reasonably attributable to the construction of the piece

If you believe your piece has a workmanship issue, please contact us with a description of the problem and photographs when possible.

We may request additional information or photographs to help determine the cause of the issue.

What Our Guarantee Does Not Cover

Our craftsmanship guarantee does not cover damage or changes resulting from:

  • Normal wear and tear

  • Normal expansion and contraction of solid wood

  • Natural variations in wood grain, color, figure, knots, or mineral streaks

  • Improper use or misuse

  • Accidental damage

  • Excessive moisture or prolonged exposure to water

  • Excessive heat or direct heat sources

  • Improper cleaning or maintenance

  • Failure to follow provided care instructions

  • Exposure to unusually dry or humid conditions

  • Outdoor use unless the product was specifically designed and sold for outdoor use

  • Modifications, repairs, refinishing, or alterations performed by someone other than MF Woodcraft

  • Damage caused during moving, installation, or relocation after delivery

  • Damage caused by improper assembly or installation when installation was not performed by MF Woodcraft

  • Damage resulting from using a product outside of its intended purpose

Natural wood is constantly responding to its environment. Minor seasonal movement, changes in appearance, small changes in joints, and other characteristics associated with solid wood are considered normal and are not considered defects in workmanship.

Furniture Installation

Unless installation is specifically included as part of your order, furniture and other pieces are considered delivered once they have been delivered to the customer or designated delivery location.

The customer is responsible for ensuring that the intended location is suitable for the piece, including adequate access, flooring, wall construction, electrical connections, plumbing, and other site conditions when applicable.

If installation is provided by MF Woodcraft, installation-related workmanship is covered by this guarantee. Damage resulting from pre-existing site conditions or conditions outside of our control is not covered.

Making a Claim

If you believe there is a problem with your piece, please contact MF Woodcraft as soon as reasonably possible.

Please provide:

  1. Your order information

  2. A description of the issue

  3. Photographs showing the issue and the surrounding area

  4. Any other information that may help us understand what happened

Please do not attempt to repair, refinish, modify, or otherwise alter the piece before contacting us, as doing so may make it difficult to determine the original cause of the issue.

We will review each claim individually and, when a genuine workmanship issue is identified, determine an appropriate remedy based on the nature and extent of the problem.

Depending on the circumstances, the remedy may include repair, replacement of a component, refinishing, or another mutually agreed-upon solution.

Handmade Means Unique

Our guarantee is intended to protect you against genuine workmanship and construction problems—not to eliminate the natural character of handmade woodworking.

Wood is a living material with unique grain, color, figure, movement, and natural characteristics. These qualities are part of what makes a handcrafted piece unique and should be expected in a natural wood product.

We build every piece with the expectation that it will be used, enjoyed, and cared for for many years.

We stand behind our work and want you to be proud of the piece you receive.

Our Commitment

We believe handcrafted furniture should be built carefully, honestly, and with attention to the details that matter.

Our goal is not simply to make a product and ship it out. Each piece represents time, material, craftsmanship, and attention to detail.

Thank you for choosing MF Woodcraft and for supporting a small woodworking business.

Handcrafted with care. Built to last.
